“ALOVERA” SECONDARY EDUCATION SCHOOL

Alovera (Guadalajara) | 2018 – 2021

Project for a building to house an 8 + 0 unit Compulsory Secondary Education School in addition to the Complementary Services that are its own, following the functional plan established by the Regional Government in the Basis of the Competition.

In this case, administration, cafeteria, library and multipurpose room (gym) was required. It also has the industrial spaces necessary to house the required facilities, warehouses, cleaning rooms and toilets. Finally, there is an adequate proportion of open spaces, duly treated, depending on their use, such as playgrounds, sports court, patio and parking area.

The building has two floors: The more extensive ground floor where the entire program is developed by outlining the routes and organizing the different functional areas so that they do not interfere with each other while allowing fluid communication between them.

The upper floor is only used for teaching area to distribute a part of the endowment of classrooms and complementary spaces with a repetitive scheme concerning the lower level.

The building floor composition has a central axis on which the spaces are distributed in “herringbone” using a modular grid. This system facilitates the rapid understanding of traffic and the orientation of building users.

It is materialized using a hierarchical criterion of the distribution spaces, in such a way that the width of corridors and lobbies is proportionate to the flow of users. This scheme not only allows the natural interpretation of circulations, but it is very beneficial for the proper design of evacuation routes in case of an emergency.
