THE GENESIS OF THE PROJECT: A FRAMEWORK FOR EXCELLENCE

The intervention at the former Ciudad Real fairgrounds arises from the premise of transforming existing infrastructure into an architectural landmark of international stature. Promoted by the Provincial Council, the project addresses the need to provide the National Wine Fair (FENAVIN) with a setting that reflects its global prestige, consolidating a space for commercial and cultural exchange under a renewed visual identity.

RECONFIGURING THE SPACE: THE CENTRAL ATRIUM

The core of the project lies in the metamorphosis of the original morphology. The comprehensive remodeling of pre-existing structures is complemented by the enclosure of the former central courtyard. This operation creates a grand reception atrium—a monumental void that functions as an organizational hub and the social heart of the complex. This new indoor space acts as a thermal and lighting filter, providing a fluid and protected arrival experience for institutional visits and the general public.

TECTONIC IDENTITY: THE BUILDING’S SKIN

To unify the various construction phases and grant the complex the status of a landmark building, an advanced textural treatment has been implemented on the facade. This architectural skin works as a cohesive element wrapping the pavilions, using the language of materiality to reinforce the building’s representational character. The facade is no longer a mere enclosure but becomes a play of textures that dialogues with light, projecting an image of modernity and urban solidity.

EXPANSION AND VERSATILITY

The functionality of the venue is enhanced through the construction of a new pavilion at the rear, specifically designed to increase exhibition space. This expansion is integrated into the complex’s logistical route, allowing for the efficient management of both goods and visitor flows. The development of the executive project was the result of a collaboration between Estudio AIA and the Provincial Council architect, Alejandro Moyano.
