The project consists of a footbridge over the M-508 motorway in Pozuelo de Alarcón, within a cycle-pedestrian path that connects the urban area with the Adolfo Suárez Park.
The walkway is designed using a two-girder structure with a constant depth, accessed by side ramps on the embankment, both on the east and west abutments. It is designed with a clear span of 50.00 m, supported by a single span. The deck is made up of two metal T-beams joined at their lower wing, forming an open trough at the top, on which a mixed slab of corrugated sheet metal and concrete slab rests, which constitutes the walkable platform of the walkway. The structure is designed in S355J2W steel with improved corrosion resistance (cor-ten steel), which blends perfectly into the green and natural areas that surround it.
The walkway is pure structure with a rhythmic sense of stiffening of the beams, which makes it especially attractive. The views of the city of Madrid from the walkway are spectacular.
The deck has a constant height of 1.80 metres and a curved geometry in elevation (radius of 350 m), to give it greater expressiveness, without exceeding at any time the accessibility limit gradient of 6%. The walkway is slender with a height/span ratio of 1/28. The useful width is 4.00 m, which is divided into 2.00 m for cyclists and 2.00 m for pedestrians. The minimum clearance of the walkway over the M-508 is 5.50 m.
The walkway rests on abutments built on piles, with the embankment covered by a front wall of limestone gabions, blending in with the surroundings.
