This project involves the design of a building to house a Secondary Education Institute, along with its associated complementary services, in accordance with the functional plan established by the Regional Department of Education in the competition brief.
The building’s structure and enclosure are resolved using precast concrete, given the need for rapid execution aligned with the academic calendar.
In this case, Estudio AIA was solely responsible for the design phase. We did not oversee construction management, and therefore, the final built result does not fully reflect our design intent.
The openings are treated as distinctive elements that protrude from the façade, framed in steel and clad in silver-lacquered perforated metal sheets. These components generate a textured façade through the interplay of natural light and shadows, while also filtering sunlight and preserving the building’s interior privacy.
The sports hall is designed as a detached structure.
This is an architecture defined by very strict functional requirements, materials pre-established by the Department of Education and validated by experience, and tight execution timelines.
The result is a rationalist and minimalist building with a strong, distinctive identity.
