1. Structural Typology and Geometry.
The footbridge is designed as a suspension structure with a constant depth crossing the A-43 highway, accessed via lateral approach ramps. The total length of the project is 153.50 m, featuring a main span of 148.00 m. This makes it the longest-span suspension footbridge in Spain.
The deck consists of a composite section integrated by an open steel trough girder (box girder) with transverse stiffeners (ribs) spaced every 3.00 m. This steel skeleton supports a 15.80 cm composite slab (steel decking).

Structural Depth: A constant depth of 85 cm at the centerline.

Vertical Alignment: A curved geometry in elevation enhances the aesthetic expression while strictly adhering to a maximum longitudinal gradient of 6% for accessibility compliance.

Slenderness Ratio: The structure is highly slender, with a depth-to-span ratio of 1/170.

Clear Width: 5.00 m total, partitioned into a 2.50 m pedestrian lane and a 2.50 m cycling lane, facilitating bidirectional traffic.
3. Suspension System and Pylons
The deck is suspended by central cables (85 mm) following a parabolic profile to act as the antifunicular of the loads. These cables are arranged in planes inclined at 10° relative to the vertical axis.
The suspension system is supported by two inclined steel pylons (76.97° to the horizontal), reaching a height of over 20.00 m above the deck level.
4. Stay Cables and Anchorages
The main span cables are continuous with the backstays (stay cables) via a specialized transition piece at the pylon head. These backstays maintain the same 10° lateral inclination.
5. Architectural Symbolism
The forward inclination of the pylons toward the main span over the highway carries symbolic weight, representing the link between Ciudad Real and Miguelturra. The A-frame configuration evokes a “gateway” or portal for both municipalities.
